Purchasing the best gaming laptop under $600 may seem like a pipe dream, but it is most feasible. Under this price range, you’d be looking at some real higher low-end laptops that fall into the category of “budget laptops.” As a result, you shouldn’t expect these computers to perform like a $1000 laptop or a gaming station.

However, they are suitable for casual gaming, hard office work, and studying.

Finding the finest laptop now requires much more than simply reviewing devices. I’ve done the research and compiled the following list for you. Pick up your laptop and read it. All of the following have been thoroughly researched to ensure that you are not dissatisfied.

The Top 4 Gaming Laptops Under $600

1. Acer Nitro 5 – Best Gaming Laptop Under $600

  • 9th Gen Intel Core i5-9300H
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650
  • 15.6″ Full HD IPS Display
  • 8GB DDR4
  • 256GB NVMe SSD
  • Wi-Fi 6
  • Backlit Keyboard
  • Alexa Builtin

The Acer Nitro 5 costs a little more than $600, yet it has everything you need in a budget gaming laptop in 2022. The GTX 1650, when combined with the processing power of the Core i5 9th generation 9300H, as well as the NVMe SSD and DDR4 RAM, results in a beast performance at this pricing. I’m talking about being able to play games like Red Dead Redemption 2, GTA V, CS: GO, and others with ease.

The main race in the game world is the fps race. On a daily basis, this laptop delivers 100+ frames per second without fail. For budget gamers, online gaming at this frame rate is a dream come true.

When the graphics card is overclocked, the laptop becomes hot. However, because of its excellent heat management system and chassis that eliminates heat without waiting for it to accumulate, you may expect a considerably cooler unit.  The fans are on the right side, and this is where the heat escapes.

The Nitrosense app, which comes pre-installed on the laptop, aids in fan control. You don’t have to use both all of the time, so you can let one fan run.

This kind of power requires room, which is why the laptop is so large. However, all of that weight does not impair your ability to move it. You’d feel it a little heavy.

Its backlit keyboard has keys that are spaced correctly. My only complaint is that the light turns off after about 30 seconds. Finding the appropriate key to restore it gets more difficult. However, you may disable this option on your Nitrosense.

The Acer Nitro 5 is a beast for its budget, which is why I’ve included it on my list of the best gaming laptops under 600 dollars. The main drawback is its mediocre webcam.

2. Lenovo IdeaPad 3 – Best Under-$600 Gaming Laptop

  • 2.1 GHz AMD Ryzen 5 5500U
  • AMD Radeon 7 Graphics
  • 14.0″ FHD IPS Display; 1920 x 1080 Resolution
  • 8GB DDR4 RAM
  • 256GB Flash Memory SSD
  • Backlit keyboard
  • USB 2.0, 3.0, 3.1, HDMI
  • Wireless 802.11ac
  • Battery life (advertised) 8 hours
  • Weight: 3.1 pounds

Without a question, this is one of my favourite gaming laptops around $600. The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 delivers a good gaming experience. Apart from that, its super-fast AMD Ryzen 5 5500U CPU performs admirably.

Multitasking is a breeze with that CPU and AMD Radeon 7, which is the latest and by far the best AMD has produced. When the laptop is in “balanced” performance mode, it stays cool, but when you switch to performance mode, the fans roar. However, even in the former, you should be able to work on high-end design software or open a zillion tabs without experiencing performance issues.

On low settings, the AMD Radeon 7 can run modern AAA games. Low frame rates will be available for Warfare, Forza Horizon, The Crew 2, and Metro Exodus. Not bad for a budget laptop, but not exceptional.

The design is fantastic. It’s stylish, contemporary, and eye-catching. The plastic isn’t cheap; it has a brushed metal feel to it. On the back, you’d get fingerprints. If you don’t like it, you should buy a cover.

I really like the backlit keyboard. The keys are adequately spaced, and the travel distance is sufficient to simulate using a MacBook Air. On the other hand, the touchpad is adequate for day-to-day tasks. Obviously, if I’m going to use this laptop for an extended period of time, I’ll need to invest in external accessories rather than rely on the included ones.

The battery life, aside from the keyboard, is excellent for the price. It has an 8-hour continuous running time.

Why is this laptop on our list of gaming laptops under 600 dollars? When used within its limits, the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 is a reliable machine. That is its drawback. And that is its limitation. You’d have to replace the RAM stick, which would mean losing the dual-channel performance.

3. Acer Aspire 5 – Gaming Laptop for Less Than $650

  • 2.1 GHz AMD Ryzen 7 3700U
  • AMD Radeon Vega 10 Graphics
  • 15.6” FHD IPS Display; 1920 x 1080 Resolution
  • 8GB DDR4 RAM
  • Backlit keyboard
  • 512GB Flash Memory SSD
  • USB 2.0, 3.1, HDMI, ethernet
  • Wireless 802.11ac
  • Battery life (advertised) 7.5 hours

Aluminum strong built
Phenomenal screen

The Acer Aspire 5 is a slim laptop with a screen that is more important than gaming performance. To be honest, at this pricing point, your priority should not be maximum gaming performance. This is because most laptops have an architecture designed for casual gaming.

This laptop is designed for casual gaming. Although the AMD Radeon Vega 10 GPU, which is supported by the AMD Ryzen 7 CPU and dual-channel DDR4 RAM, the games will still run in low to medium settings to ensure seamless operation.

There is no denying it. Dual-channel is actually beneficial because it allows the GPU to perform at its best. When that happens, you can play games like Dota 2 on low, League of Legends on medium, CS:GO on medium, and Quake Champions on high. Sorry, but games like Overwatch operate on the lowest settings.

You’d love how simple it is to upgrade it in terms of performance. You can easily add a 4GB stick alongside the DDR4 to make the most of its power. If you like, you may also add a 2.5″ SSD.

When completed, the laptop will outperform several in the $700 price bracket.

I like its aluminium shell and strong build.  In comparison to plastic, the case does not collect fingerprints, and it is also quite attractive. However, I didn’t care for its keyboard or touchpad.

Why use a touchpad? Because it has the feel of cheap plastic. Why use a keyboard? Because its backlight intermittently cuts off. However, typing is enjoyable.

The battery is the last thing to be sad about. The promised battery life is 7.5 hours, although it can last at least 5.5 hours. Reduce the brightness and set the settings to low to obtain an extra 2 or 3 hours. It’s difficult to fit all of these capabilities in a $600 budget laptop, but Acer did it.

4. ASUS VivoBook 17 – Under $600 Gaming Laptop

  • 3.5 GHz AMD Ryzen 3
  • AMD Radeon Graphics
  • 17.6” FHD IPS Display; 1920 x 1080 Resolution
  • 8GB DDR4 RAM
  • 256GB Flash Memory SSD
  • No backlit keyboard
  • USB 2.0, 3.0, 3.1, HDMI
  • Wireless 802.11ac
  • Battery life (advertised) 5 hours
  • Weight: 5.07 pounds

The Asus ViviBook is the fourth gaming laptop under 600 on my list. With a 17-inch screen, it’s a gigantic machine. Take note, graphic designers, because this could rescue you from working on massive desktops.

I’m going to start with the screen. That is the first and finest thing I noticed. An FHD IPS display performs admirably. You won’t need a monitor if you keep it on an elevated platform.

However, make a mental note to plug and unplug the charger according to the battery %. A full charge takes about 4 to 5 hours, which is reasonable given the screen ratio.

An AMD Ryzen 3 processor powers the laptop. A decent individual with a talent for meticulous multitasking. This, along with an AMD Radeon graphics card, provides plenty of power for business and study tasks. These two support mid- to low-level games. They should be classified as casual gaming.

Games like Batman: Arkhan Knight, Assassin’s Creed Origins, and Titanfall 2 perform admirably. You might want to adjust the card to run high-end games like GTA V.

The laptop does not overheat because it just operates within its capabilities. That’s wonderful news for graphic designers and casual gamers alike.

I adore that and its clean style, but I despise its keyboard. I’m not sure why ASUS chose grey to print keys on a grey background. This makes seeing keys in broad daylight nearly impossible. There’s also no backlight, so you’d have to use an extra keyboard or angle a torch.

The audio is also mediocre, though adequate for a laptop around $600.

As previously said, this laptop is an efficient workstation capable of running light casual games.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a $600 gaming laptop worth it?

If you spend $600, you’ll get a decent rig that’s efficient enough to run some casual indie games, but don’t expect it to run newer AAA games at Ultra or High settings with minimum 60hz stable frame rates.

What is the lowest price gaming laptop?

If you have a limited budget, it may be more difficult to find a decent gaming gaming laptop given the Inflation and Pandemic issues, which is why you may be able to find a low-end gaming laptop for around 600-700 dollars if you are lucky.

Is Ryzen 5 suitable for gaming?

Even in the Zen 2 series, there are some pretty snappy chips, such as the Ryzen 5 3600, which has six cores and is more than enough for your hardcore gaming needs.

Is The i5 Good For Gaming?

Team Blue has without a doubt one of the best catalogues of gaming-oriented processors, particularly the Core i5 lineup with chips like the 10400H, which supports quad cores and is very affordable, making it one of the gaming community’s most versatile chips.

What is the best RAM for gaming?

16GB is considered the ideal capacity for gaming. However, you should check the frequency of the RAM you intend to purchase because RAMs with lower frequencies, such as 1600MHz, may be slower than those with 3600MHz. Additionally, you should enable the XMP profile to fully utilise your RAM’s clock speeds.

As you may be aware, every price range has its limitations. The same is true for $600 laptops. They are designed to run mid to low-level titles. If you expect AAA games to outrun your gaming desktop, you’ll be disappointed. You will always get low frame rates and mediocre graphics. Not to mention the strain on your laptop.

Worry not, because popular but less graphically demanding titles such as DOTA 2 and League of Legends can still be played at higher frame rates and with good graphics.
